TWENTY20 CRICKET EVENT
Lords, the WACA, Sabina Park, The Wanderers.....grounds which are synonymous with World Class cricket. Farnham Royal Cricket Club can now be added to this illustrious list as it recently hosted a Twenty20 match between an Office Agents XI and office interior specialists Area Sq.
The Agents, captained by Charles Stevens of Knight Frank, batted first and Sam Gallagher of CBRE hit the 1st ball of the innings out of the ground for a 6. Area Sq's bowling did improve and the Agents were "restricted" to 149 runs from their 20 overs, which included a duck for Piers Leigh of King Sturge. The innings also featured a Twenty20 record of 11 dropped catches!
Area Sq, despite admirable knocks from captain Andy Wilkinson and Russell Rints, were never really in with a realistic chance of victory, as the Agents bowling attack spearheaded by all rounder Gallagher, Al Dawson, James Berry and John Jackson were too powerful.
Heather Smith of Knight Frank was the official scorer of the match which the Agents convincingly won by 29 runs. Both Captains paid tribute to their players and the light hearted spirit that the match was played in and look forward to a more competitive game next year.
